Lifetime is a basic support for the thermal insulation function of barrier coatings (TBCs). Therefore, extending life span essential to develop next-generation TBCs. For this objective, columnar structure formed by vertical cracks appears make sense. However, underlying mechanism still unclear. This work scrutinizes influence periodic on cracking behavior in order tailor high strain tolerant A finite element model was evolved explore crack influenced mismatch between substrate and coating.
